About
CryoHockey was founded with a singular mission - to deliver elite-level hockey skating and performance training in the unique and rugged environment of Alaska. Our focus is not just on developing hockey players, but on building athletes who thrive in challenging conditions and push their limits on and off the ice.
Located in the heart of Alaska, CryoHockey operates year-round and serves a growing community of hockey players across youth, junior, and adult levels. Our training methods are rooted in science, tailored for cold-weather performance, and refined through thousands of hours of coaching experience.
The name CryoHockey reflects our identity. 'Cryo' refers to freezing conditions - symbolic of both our environment and our commitment to training in one of the most demanding climates in North America. Hockey is more than a sport here - it's a lifestyle, a discipline, and a year-round pursuit.
Our team is made up of former collegiate and semi-professional players, certified skating specialists, and dedicated performance coaches. Every instructor at CryoHockey is handpicked for their ability to teach, motivate, and elevate each athlete they work with.
We believe that skating is the foundation of all hockey excellence. If you cannot move well on the ice, you cannot compete at the highest level. That is why every CryoHockey program places skating mechanics, posture, balance, and edge control at the center of the curriculum.
CryoHockey offers a wide range of programs including private sessions, semi-private training, youth fundamentals, elite seasonal packages, and weekend intensives. Each program is customized to age, skill level, and personal development goals. We train players from age 6 to adult competitors.
We are particularly proud of our video analysis capabilities. Every session includes the option for video feedback, allowing players to see their technique, understand correction points, and track improvement over time. This visual component is critical to learning in high-performance training environments.
Our off-ice conditioning and warmup protocols are designed for hockey-specific strength, balance, and injury prevention. We integrate mobility training, resistance drills, and neuromuscular warmups into every session to ensure our players are physically prepared to perform their best on the ice.
Alaska provides a natural advantage in mental and physical resilience. Training in colder conditions strengthens players both physically and mentally. CryoHockey embraces this advantage and uses it to prepare athletes for the rigor of real-game pressure and endurance.
We also maintain strong relationships with local leagues, schools, and travel teams. Many of our players go on to play in Tier I and Tier II junior hockey, and several have advanced to NCAA programs. We offer consultation services for players and parents navigating the competitive hockey pathway.
CryoHockey is more than just a training service - it is a hockey development center with a long-term vision. We are actively expanding our programs, investing in new technologies, and building partnerships to elevate hockey across Alaska and beyond.
Safety is one of our core values. All of our coaches are background-checked and trained in first aid and emergency response. We follow USA Hockey safety guidelines and maintain detailed emergency protocols for every facility we use.
Our culture is built around discipline, effort, and respect. We expect our athletes to show up early, work hard, listen to coaching, and treat teammates and instructors with professionalism. These habits not only build strong players but strong individuals.
CryoHockey welcomes players of all backgrounds and experience levels. We work with beginners, late bloomers, and elite youth players alike. Our approach is supportive, constructive, and laser-focused on helping each athlete get better, one stride at a time.
We are continuously improving our programs through feedback and innovation. Every season, we adjust our drills, training flows, and coaching techniques based on what produces the best results. We stay current with modern hockey trends and research.
Our facilities include well-maintained indoor ice, video review space, and an off-ice warmup area. We also host outdoor skating events in winter when conditions allow - providing players with memorable and unique hockey experiences in the Alaskan wilderness.
CryoHockey believes in community. We regularly host local camps, sponsor youth leagues, and offer scholarships for families in financial need. Hockey is for everyone - and we are committed to growing the game across our state and region.
